Release Notes

This is the first official release of the Quicklight project. The Quicklight project is a collection of libraries that, along with the Saltarelle C# to Javascript compiler, allow a developer to write anything from Rich Internet Applications to Apps for mobile phones using C# and the HTML based Razor syntax.

Attached to the first release is an example application built using the Quicklight.Web and Quicklight.Net libraries. It is a simple calculator example that uses a webservice to do the calculation. If you click on one of the command buttons it loads the view that is able to do the specific calculation. The MVVM design pattern is used and the binding of the viewmodel and view is done declaratively in the Add and Subtract views and done programmatically in the Multiply and Divide views.

To run the application, simply download and unzip it in a conventient location. Open the solution using Visual Studio 2010 or later and run the application. To run the application outside of Visual Studio you have to install IIS and create an IIS Application with the directory pointing to the directory in which the WebSite project is located.

To enable a project to use Quicklight.Web simply use the NuGet package manager and use the Extension Manager of Visual Studio to install the Razor Generator extension. To create a view, create a cshtml file similar to those in the example and set the custom tool to RazorGenerator. Ensure there is a web.config placed in the root of the project with content similar to that found in the example. Also place Quicklight.Web.dll in the bin directory of the project.

The first release also contains a zip file with the binaries and the Quicklight.Web.js file as a reference. These are the same files supplied using NuGet.
